#PWD and their allies were discredited- the AMAD committee's final report is a discriminatory disaster. Help us make our views heard by sharing this video:

@kesleeman Dr Coelho is a co-founder of Physicians Together with Vulnerable Canadians. We are a group that opposes the expansion of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) and the inherent risks it poses to the lives of many Canadians. Our statement has been endorsed by over 1000 🇨🇦 physicians.
@kesleeman Dr Coelho has never been a member of the Christian medical dental association nor CCBi, just collaborated with them. Not that that would be relevant anyway. This is about our duty of care as physicians to provide the best care.
@kesleeman Dr Ramona Coelho has always cared for very marginalized patients who are now considering MAiD and tempted to choose MAiD out of psychosocial suffering such as poverty.

Whatever I say here isn't new. It can't be. People with disabilities have been loudly talking about this long before I started this investigation last August. You should follow them: @mssinenomine, @CatherineFrazee, @DrHeid, @KateMcWilli, @InclusionCA, @BCANDS1, @Vivredignite
A crucial new investigation by Alexander Raikin at @TNAJournal goes much further than previous reporting on Canada's runaway euthanasia freight train.
New evidence shows poverty is driving people to MAID, providers know it, and they euthanize them anyway.

"The legal barrier against euthanasia and assisted suicide [has] a purpose. It is a line in the sand that prevents us slipping into a culture of death-dealing. Crossing it would not produce a culture of compassion. It would brutalise an entire society." https://t.co/JgKKjOdQKg
This is just silly & should not be indulged. If someone ends their own life it is suicide. If you assist them in ending their own life it's either assisted suicide or murder depending on how much we believe in the authenticity of consent, presence of choice & absence of coercion.
…physicians must provide the patient with all health services that are legally permissible and publicly funded and that are consented to by the patient…” 2/2 https://t.co/01VYNzbYUZ…
In response to @historykev :How can a physician refuse to provide #MAiD once it is deemed medical treatment and a patient says that they are suffering unbearably? #euthanasia#assistedsuicide
Previously published work by @jgdownie about how physicians ought to proceed regarding providing #MAID: “When a referral to another health care provider is not possible without causing a delay that would jeopardize the patient’s health or well-being…1/2
"Opposition parties willing to help Liberals delay MAID expansion" @althiaraj Nothing prevents the libs from suspending further expansion ... except perhaps ideological commitment ... https://t.co/p35VsKSbkp via @torontostar
A Canadian doctor gave approval for euthanasia to a man after he wrote them this email. As was charmingly put to me once by an academic expert, to not allow poor people to commit suicide simply because they are poor would be discriminatory and rob them of their dignity.
With obvious proviso of limitations we face in terms of time, etc., Catherine and I are committing to set aside time every week to meet one-on-one with people who'd like to discuss contributing work or becoming more involved in opposition to MAiD and Disability Filibuster.
I think this point is key.
One thing in common among most jurisdictions legalising some form of medically hastened death is that this pressure - to expand it by eroding what were presented as essential safeguards - is early and relentless.
