The U.S. Senate needs 60 votes to get a “CR” (“Continuing Resolution”) to pass and keep the government open and funded. There are 53 republicans in the Senate which means 7 democrats must vote with them to keep the government open. If the government shuts down on Oct 1, it will be because Sen. Schumer and the Senate DEMOCRATS are playing political games and holding the American people and federal workers hostage. The U.S. House did its job and passed the CR on Sept 19!
