Today, South Africa proudly stands at the centre of the global biodiversity conversation as the first country to host the International Day for Biological Diversity Global Flagship Event. 🇿🇦

As one of the world’s 17 megadiverse countries, South Africa is home to an extraordinary wealth of biodiversity, from unique plant species and diverse wildlife to ecosystems that sustain livelihoods, support climate resilience and shape our natural heritage.

This milestone reflects our country’s ongoing commitment to protecting and restoring biodiversity for present and future generations, while strengthening global action towards living in harmony with nature.
