Speed safety camera enforcement began on June 12, 2026, at Redmond High School (17272 NE 104th Street), Redmond Middle School (10055 166th Avenue NE), and Rose Hill Middle School (13505 NE 75th Street). The cameras are now fully activated - with citations issued for alleged violations - in the designated school zones, during designated hours, when the school zone beacons are flashing. Designated hours typically include 30 minutes before the start of school and after school until 5 p.m. on school days.
The cameras will be deactivated from June 18 - Aug. 31 while Lake Washington School District is not in session. No citations will be issued during this time.
Funds from Redmond's Speed Safety Camera Pilot Program will go toward local safety improvements, as outlined by Revised Code of Washington 46.63.220, helping create safer crosswalks, enhanced signage, and additional infrastructure designed to reduce vehicle speeds.

Even with the warmer weather, that does not mean lakes and rivers have warmed up yet, and the water is still dangerously cold. Cold water shock can happen when the water temperature is below 70°F (21°C), and it can trigger involuntary gasping and muscle failure. Check out King County’s water temperature map to know where it’s safe to swim.
