It’s salmon release season in Federal Way! 🌊🐟
Over the past two weeks, fourth graders have taken over Hylebos Blueberry Farm Park for one of the most exciting traditions of the school year, Storming the Sound with Salmon!
Through our partnership with Federal Way Public Schools, students spent the year raising Coho salmon right in their classrooms. Along the way, they built real-world skills in observation, data collection and environmental science while learning just how vital salmon are to the Pacific Northwest.
Now comes the best part: releasing thousands of the young salmon they’ve cared for into West Hylebos Creek, where their journey to the Puget Sound begins.
Moments like these turn science into something students can see, feel and play a role in!
