Fascinating read about the heated battle over #adoption#adopteevoices, #birthmom trauma, supporting families’ social services needs and the desperate need for adoption regulation https://t.co/FFRnW5BZ7S

After @NPRinskeep wrote a moving piece revealing his #adoption journey for @nytimes#adoptees wrote letters to the editor with their own stories.

@NPRinskeep@nytopinion Thank you so much for sharing your story and opening readers up to the feelings of #adoptees. #Adoption can be misunderstood but getting our stories out is a great way to lift the vail. So many thanks to all #adopted people who are speaking out.
@NPRinskeep @llmunro @nytopinion Thanks for this. Funny how people fear our existence. I’ve known exactly how to reach my bio dad for over 3 years and have never reached out to him. We aren’t wanting to invade lives, we are trying to find our roots. Adoption has too many hurtful secrets. Time to change that.
@NPRinskeep@nytopinion Your piece was beautiful; these letters are rich and profound. I caution that one cannot unfind parents who may be deeply flawed and troubled so people should proceed prepared for the chance of disappointing and prosaic reunions and the burdens they will inherit as a result.
Stunning: People had many responses to last week’s essay on adoption birth records, and @nytopinion publishes twelve letters here, along with pictures from the adoption stories of some of them. https://t.co/ef49KUJqAc
"American Baby" is a "hawk's eye version (of #adoption), then down... really into the granular detail of Margaret's life" -@GabrielleGlaser . Writing about her friend David's life was an honor of a lifetime, and even she came out of the fog as the author. https://t.co/QR2dCZojFc
@GabrielleGlaser dug deep into the #adoptee story of her dearly departed friend David and his touching reunion w/ his birth mother, Margaret. Her book "American Baby" covers a range of issues in #adoption in the U.S. https://t.co/QR2dCZojFc
Honored to have this discussion about #adoption, identity, and the story behind “American Baby” with the @damonldavis, who shares his own voice as an #adoptee — and those of many others — on the thoughtful podcast @WAIReally https://t.co/LCzb15xI9Y
@GabrielleGlaser@damonldavis It was such a pleasure to have you as a guest. I really loved hearing David and Margaret’s story, some of your insights on #adoption, and about the process to write “American Baby”. Special thx to @SusannahFox for the connection! https://t.co/rIJCcV54Jo
“Two percent African?! I thought, Well, who am I then? ... I was embarrassed... I was afraid people would think I was a fraud. I was so disappointed, and in my heart..., I didn’t believe it... how could I not be black? I’d lived black. I was black.”

If you haven't read @GabrielleGlaser's new book, you must. My thoughts on American Baby particularly in the context of adoptee rights https://t.co/sKPCHzAtCy
