West Belfast Detached Youth Work Team - working across the area with young people and supporting all EA-funded youth organisations in engaging young people.
@Education_NI@eayouthservice We are calling for the Reinstatement of the West Belfast Detached Team. Our Project was incredibly successful in Coordinating Detached youth work while supporting our young people & communities to secure educational outcomes and develop belonging.
Youth workers play a vital role in educating our young people in West Belfast & I will continue to advocate on their behalf for more funding & the return of the West Belfast detached youth team.

WBDT staff planning for the year ahead despite no funding come April 2023 thanks to @Ed_Authority. Coordination of detached work in West Belfast handed back to the statutory agency, where's the application of primacy for viable voluntary sector services @Education_NI?
Staff taking part in a Capacity Building Weekend, examining the impacts of our work assessing our strengths and areas for improvement and planning for the future taking account of the significant challenges that lie ahead. Thank you to the @TNLComFundNI for supporting our work.
Great to see politicians taking action against the issue of youth work funding cuts in our community. These cuts are going to further marginalise the young people most at risk and the @Ed_Authority are doing nothing about it. Cutting funding is not protecting core youth services
This morning I chaired a meeting of Sinn Fรฉin MPs & MLAs with Youth providers.
We are deeply concerned about the cuts to youth services.
We know how important youth work is for our children & communities
The anger this week is real for youth workers across the voluntary sector @Ed_Authority@eayouthservice@Education_NI the impact of your cuts on the lives of young people is sickening especially to those young people who are most vulnerable and at risk in our communities.
Latest members' update Zoom meeting this morning. Discussion took place on latest tranche of local funding specifications & implications of the future funding on offer.
At its peak, 79 organisations & projects were present online.
Anger from within our sector is palpable.

Our project after years of working to develop collaborative working across sectors and agencies has now what it looks to be as Cut. The children and young people of West Belfast will now suffer at the hands of @eayouthservice
The West Belfast Detached Team attended a multi-agency meeting this morning to address the recent attacks on the emergency services in West Belfast. Great discussions and ideas for going forward.
It was great to see young people, youth workers and community reps from across the country coming together against the cuts to the voluntary sector.
The impact of no detached work in West Belfast will be catastrophic for our young people and community.

The proposed cuts to youth services, if forced through would have a savage impact upon youth provision and jobs. The work carried out through these youth services is absolutely vital and provides support for some of this cityโs most vulnerable young people. No cuts!
Today our team hosted a critical review of our project to date with statutory, community and youth work partners. Great discussions generated and lots for the team to take forward next year. Thanks to all who attended ๐
Youth work is an essential lifeline to so many young people. We have seen this first hand through our engagement with young people across north and west Belfast and seen the impact youth work is having on them.

A Successful protest at EA buildings. Our voices were heard, young people met with Una Turbitt and Michael Hogg from the EA, we gave them our petition signatures and letters from parents/carers and young people! Stay tuned for more updates! #WeMatterToo#UNCRCArticle23#Section75
