First, a quick recap.

Yesterday, UK Maritime Trade Operations issued two separate warnings about ships attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. Two crew members suffered minor injuries in the first incident. Britain has agreed to help Saudi Arabia keep its defensive aircraft in the air.

Reuters reports that Britain will send one RAF Voyager aircraft in the coming days. It will refuel Saudi planes during defensive missions, following increased Houthi attacks. The support is temporary, although Britain will keep it under review. The announcement came on Monday as the British prime minister travelled to New York. Reuters

Diplomatic pressure is also growing.

After meeting in New York on Monday, foreign ministers from the Group of Seven called on Iran to stop supplying weapons and support to the Houthis. They condemned Houthi attacks in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, called for attacks on civilian shipping to stop, and urged a return to political talks. Reuters

There was also a brief disruption reported at Riyadh’s airport.

Turning now to Ukraine, where another overnight Russian attack caused deaths, injuries and damage.

Ukraine’s air force says Russia launched 212 drones, along with several types of missiles. It reported hits at 22 locations. Ukrainian forces said they shot down or disrupted 177 drones and nine other missiles or missile-like weapons. These are the Ukrainian military’s figures. Ukrainska Pravda

In Dnipro, regional officials say four people were killed in a ballistic missile attack. Six people were reported injured. Rescue crews recovered another body from the rubble this morning, raising the death toll. Business premises and warehouses were damaged. Ukrainska Pravda

In Kyiv, officials reported five people needing medical help after a drone attack in the Dniprovskyi district. Three suffered cuts and two were treated for shock. Four residential buildings were damaged, and residents were evacuated from one of them. Ukrainska Pravda

Inside Russia, Ukraine’s military says its forces struck two oil refineries overnight.

One was the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara. The other was the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim refinery in Ufa. Ukrainian officials reported fires at both sites. The full damage and the effect on fuel production were not established in that report. Ukrainska Pravda

Separately, the governor of Russia’s Samara region said one person was killed and four were wounded during the overnight drone attacks. He said homes and cars were hit. Reuters attributed those casualty figures to the Russian authorities. Reuters

These attacks come as leaders discuss whether strikes on energy sites can be stopped.

French President Emmanuel Macron says he discussed that idea with President Trump on Monday. It’s Monday, September 21. Here is your updated report on the Middle East and the war between Ukraine and Russia.

First, a quick recap.

Earlier, we covered Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, reports that President Trump had held off on strikes against the Houthis, and explosions near Aleppo. We also reported the first of today’s two UKMTO shipping alerts.

On Syria, Reuters says an army weapons depot near Al-Eiss exploded, injuring four people. The cause is under investigation. This happened before our 6 a.m. starting time. Reuters

We begin the main report in the Strait of Hormuz.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency, known as UKMTO, issued two separate attack warnings dated September 21.

The first notice lists a report time of 3:30 a.m. Eastern. A tanker entering the strait was hit by an unidentified projectile. Two crew members suffered minor injuries. The ship continued toward its next port under its own power. No environmental damage was reported. UKMTO warning 140-26

The second notice lists a report time of 9:30 a.m. Eastern. A gas tanker leaving the strait was hit by debris from unidentified projectiles. All crew members were reported safe. The ship was expected to continue to its next port. Again, no environmental damage was reported. UKMTO warning 141-26

UKMTO says the second incident was reported late. These are report times; the exact attack times were not given. Neither notice identifies who was responsible. Both incidents are under investigation.

Turning to Iran.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, also called the IRGC, has issued another warning.

Spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi says Iran would use new weapons and strike new targets if it comes under renewed attack. He did not name those targets. This was a warning about what Iran might do next. Associated Press, IranWire

Meanwhile, the World Food Programme says it has provided food to around 60,000 people in Yemen. It is preparing to help hundreds of thousands more.

Despite the fighting and shipping risks, oil prices fell.

At 1:16 p.m. Eastern, Reuters reported Brent crude at 99 dollars and 51 cents a barrel, down about 4.2 percent. Hopes for talks and a partial recovery in Saudi oil shipments helped bring prices down. That was the price at that time. Reuters

Moving to Gaza.

The Israeli military says an engineering vehicle hit an explosive device near the Yellow Line today. No soldiers were injured.

Journalist Emanuel Fabian, in reporting shared by Shin, says the vehicle was unmanned and the incident happened in northern Gaza. IDF statement, Report shared by Shin

The Palestinian-media report supplied for this update says an Israeli fighter jet hit a building in Gaza City minutes later. It describes the strike as an apparent response to the explosion.

Ukrainian officials have reported more civilian deaths.

In the Mykolaiv region, a three-year-old boy was killed during a Russian airstrike in the Voznesensk district, according to regional authorities. Ukrainska Pravda

In Komyshuvakha, in the Zaporizhzhia region, authorities say a Russian attack on a passenger minibus killed a woman and injured three people. Ukrainska Pravda

In Sloviansk, rescuers recovered the body of a man trapped in an apartment building after a Russian drone strike. The search has ended. Ukrainska Pravda

Inside Russia, Reuters has new details about Sunday’s attack on Moscow’s oil refinery.

Three industry sources say the refinery stopped processing crude oil after fires damaged both main processing units. Repairs could take several weeks. The owner, Gazprom Neft, did not immediately comment. Reuters

Ukraine’s military also claims its wider attacks have put more than 45 percent of Russia’s oil-refining capacity out of action. That figure is Ukraine’s estimate and has not been independently confirmed. Ukrainska Pravda

On peace talks, President Zelenskyy says Ukraine could reduce its attacks if Russia stops hitting Ukrainian energy sites, other essential services and food exports.

The European Union is also considering changes to its sanctions.

We begin in the Middle East.

Earlier in the evening, Shin reported an apparent ammunition-depot explosion in Aleppo shortly after 6 p.m. Eastern, followed by additional explosions. No casualty count was provided. There is also an update on American involvement in Yemen.

Reuters has reported that President Trump rejected Saudi requests for direct U.S. military intervention against the Houthis. Reuters.

The New York Times account shared with this broadcast adds that Trump briefly told the Pentagon to prepare airstrikes after a personal appeal from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, before deciding against ordering them for now.

According to that account, which cites administration officials, most of Trump’s closest advisers opposed opening another front in the war.

Now, a breaking maritime update from the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations alert shared with this broadcast, military authorities reported that a tanker making an inbound passage through the strait was struck by an unknown projectile.

Two crew members suffered minor injuries. The tanker is reported to be continuing to its next port under its own power. No environmental damage has been reported.

Authorities are investigating. The alert does not identify the tanker or say who carried out the attack. UKMTO is advising ships to move through the area with caution and report suspicious activity.

This comes as shipping routes used to move oil and other goods remain under pressure.

Reuters reports that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains far below normal levels. Its latest report counted 17 commodity-carrying vessels crossing over the weekend. Some oil continues to move, including through transfers between tankers near the entrance to the Gulf.

There is a potentially important change in Saudi Arabia’s oil situation.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the damaged East-West pipeline could recover about half its capacity within days. That is an expected partial recovery; it is not a report that the pipeline is already back to normal.

Oil prices fell about two percent in early trading as concerns about prolonged supply losses eased. Brent crude was reported near 102 dollars a barrel. The Wall Street Journal.

In Zaporizhzhia, Russian strikes damaged two apartment towers, a shopping centre and educational buildings. Large fires broke out, and emergency crews worked through the night.

In Lozova, in the Kharkiv region, prosecutors say a Russian drone attack killed a woman. A 62-year-old man was injured, and two other women were treated for shock.

Near Odesa, an overnight strike set fire to warehouses storing food for a supermarket chain.

More than 80 firefighters responded. Emergency officials reported no casualties in that incident and said the warehouse facilities had been attacked before. Ukrainska Pravda.

There is also a rescue update from Sloviansk. City authorities said a person remained trapped under the rubble of an apartment building, with search efforts continuing.

Russia’s defence ministry, meanwhile, claims it intercepted 244 Ukrainian drones overnight. In Bryansk, the regional governor reported one person killed at a residential building and three injured when a car was hit.

Looking beyond this morning’s damage, a new report carried by Ukrainska Pravda, citing Bloomberg, raises concern about winter.

It says Russia’s reduced use of ballistic missiles since August could indicate that it is saving them for attacks on electricity and heating systems. We begin in the Middle East.

A statement attributed to Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warns that any renewed American military action against Iran would lead to repeated strikes on U.S. bases, military positions and other American interests across the region.

The statement also warns that countries helping the United States attack Iran would be treated as taking part in those attacks, and that Iran would no longer show restraint toward them.

It further claims that Washington decided to restart operations against Iran after a meeting in a European country and after gaining support from several regional governments. That remains a claim in the Iranian statement, rather than an announced U.S. decision.

Separately, OSINT613, citing CNN, reports that President Trump’s meeting at Camp David included a review of possible strikes against Yemen. We now turn to Israel and the West Bank.

Reports supplied for this broadcast describe a deadly shooting near Neveh Tzuf. The victim died from their injuries. The latest update says Israeli forces captured the suspected attacker alive, ending the manhunt.
