Last night, Deputy Speaker Reagen Allen welcomed delegates attending the Forum for Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities to a special welcome reception at the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
Yesterday, at the Forum for Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities, Session 1 explored the intersection of gender and disability in political leadership, highlighting the barriers women with disabilities continue to face in accessing elected office and leadership opportunities.
The discussion featured Dr Marlene le Roux, and Member Nomafrench Mbombo.
At the Forum for Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities yesterday, the opening reflections session explored progress, ongoing challenges, and the importance of strengthening disability inclusion across Commonwealth parliaments.

Opening remarks at the Forum for Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities were delivered by Speaker Speaker Daylin Mitchell, alongside Sen. Isaiah Jacob, CPwD Chairperson, Dr Mzolisi Toni, Secretary-General of Disabled People South Africa (DPSA), and Stephen Twigg, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
Yesterday, the Western Cape Provincial Parliament was honoured to co-host the opening of the Forum for Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities alongside the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Secretariat @CPA_Secretariat in Cape Town.
The Forum brings together disabled delegates from across the Commonwealth to advance inclusion, representation, and equal participation in public life.
