@DDaCrema1 Could be worth checking local community colleges if they need instructors. Wouldn't fully start until the school year, but still may be a lead. Best of luck
Quick reality check: the US COVID-19 curve is VERTICAL. The disease is spreading completely uncontrolled in nearly every part of the country. Hospitals are filling up.
Double your precautions now. Cancel your plans. Make an excuse and bow out; you’ll be saving lives by doing so.
I’ve landed in Hong Kong after flying from Paris CDG, via London Heathrow. I now have to wait ~8 hours before I get my #COVID19 test results and thus have ample time to tweet about my experience.
Having read Rebecca Solnit's "A Paradise Built in Hell" many years ago, it does not surprise me to learn that, when a group of teen boys were actually stranded on a deserted island for 15 months, it turned out nothing like Lord of the Flies. https://t.co/PY3PeasW71
A @bakergrpIU virtual happy hour made for a really nice Friday afternoon, its so rare to actually talk to current and past lab members all at the same time!
Just finished my first @SkypeScientist session and it was a blast! Getting to talk one on one with a curious 4th grader made me remember just how wild and strange the world of academic chemistry is.
I personally owe a lot to Dennis Peters, without his mentorship I likely wouldn't have gone on to graduate school for chemistry. For future students, I can only hope to be half the educator that Dennis Peters was for me.
Today the hearts of the entire IUB Chemistry Department are heavy due to the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Professor Dennis Peters. He had almost 60 years of service to IU teaching undergraduates and graduate students. #iubchemistry#petersgroup#youwillbemissed#aloha
The World Health Organization has announced that dogs cannot contract Covid-19. Dogs previously held in quarantine can now be released. To be clear, WHO let the dogs out.
After a year of work our paper on evaluating performance of historical climate models is finally out! We found that 14 of 17 the climate projections released between 1970 and 2001 effectively matched observations after they were published. https://t.co/xbmOh4ZPcn 1/19
@NPRMichel Your piece about Cokie and being an ally today was spectacular. Saying that people can be advocates even when they don't necessarily come from the same background was really touching!
@corvidresearch Good luck! I've got some resources from a course I took on course design I would be more than happy to share! They center around the idea of backwards course design that was hugely helpful for me

@toviasmithnpr Totally agree that lowering the stakes in some way really helps! Assessing students effectively sometimes feels like classroom economics and providing the right incentives isn't easy to do
