Single-sex spaces for women who have survived sexual violence have been enshrined in @WEP_UK policy from the beginning.
This is a very welcome addition to existing provision in Edinburgh.
For the first time in Scotland, victims of rape and domestic abuse will be able to formally meet those who harmed them in a process called Restorative Justice. We discuss with Gemma Fraser @ComJusScot and Ashley Scotland @survive2thrive1: https://t.co/gzKfU4Yikt
🧵After months of pressure, the Scottish government today gave a clear commitment that early medical abortion at home will continue.
This bring Scotland into line with arrangements in Wales and England. 1/

🚨 This morning 76 consultants from the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow have written to the Women's Health Minister, @MareeToddMSP, demanding action over anti-abortion protests at the hospital.

THIS. IS. POLITICAL.
Huge crowd in front of Hackney Town Hall in solidarity for #ChildQ
Righteous Anger. Pain. Determination.
Solidarity. Love. Community.
Everyone united against MISOGYNISTIC and RACIST abuse of power.

And that's a wrap on our first ever Comms-themed conference!
A huge thank you to all of our attendees and facilitators from @AminaMWRC, @rapecrisisscot, @youngwomenscot and @EastAyrshire!
We learned so much - we thought we'd share a snippet of our thoughts as a group:
Great discussion and sharing around the cost of participation for survivors - there's a feeling of duty for some survivors and constantly speaking on their trauma and experiences can be draining.
Very important to be cognisant of this when reporting on gender-based violence.
Some key points made about including survivors in the process of survivor participation, and the power dynamics we need to be mindful of. #SurvivorComms
We are constantly reminded of the importance of really listening to survivors of #VAWG, hearing their voices and experiences in their own words, and avoiding jargon when we talk about the subject
#SurvivorComms@scotwomensaid
Second day of @scotwomensaid conference starts with really good presentation from Rabia of @AminaMWRC on additional challenges faced by Muslim women subjected to violence
Really interesting conference from @scotwomensaid on survivor-centred campaigning - looking forward to tomorrow's session!
Ending male violence #VAWG is the most important of our key policies for so many @WEP_UK members.

I am so angry about this.
Slashing sick-pay is backwards, callous, and dangerous.
This is a political choice. It's bad for EVERYONE and particularly bad for women who are more than twice as likely to be paid below the lower earnings limit.

Today's 'freedom' announcement rings hollow. What about clinically vulnerable people? What about the threat to all of us caused by scrapping free tests which will massively weaken our ability to spot and respond to new surges and variants?

My day started with a stunning #ScottishHighland winter walk and continued with the @WEP_Scot conference. Interesting & energising conversations were held and new members welcomed!
