A bit late notice but there’s still space on my #Walthamstow#guidedwalk tomorrow afternoon and my “Pubs, Penicillin, Pineapples and Plaques” walk in and around the canal at #Paddington on Sunday morning https://t.co/3kOHIoXv76
Join me on one of 3 #localhistory#guidedwalks in May & early June in #Walthamstow & N #Chingford
N Chingford & Walthamstow (both #WalthamForest) are less than 4 miles apart but have strikingly different histories & each has a very different feel today.

A recent acquired 1985 Mosque and prayer guide for UK is creating a lot of conversations amongst the Muslims! Did you grow up with a copy too? #mosque#prayer#UK #1985
Looking up Old Church Road, Chingford, c1910. The hill up to All Saints (Old Church) was formally known as Big Church Hill. You can just see the collapsed nave of the church that occurred in 1904 due to neglect. The road was widened in the 1930s during redevelopment of the area.
Sculptor Don Potter was born #OTD 1902. He lived in Victoria Rd, Chingford from 1915-1920s, teaching wood carving at Gilwell Park. Our Lady of Grace & St Teresa RC church in Chingford features his carving 1956. 📸 OS map section 1920. Church by John Salmon https://t.co/11HgYv3JTk
Soho Theatre Walthamstow’s interior design follows ‘arrested decay’ principles, an increasingly common heritage approach which sensitively preserves & celebrates history.
