10 - 16 hour workdays.
Unsafe conditions.
That was the reality before workers organized in 1886.
They fought for the 8 hour work day
and changed history!
✊🏾 Today, the fight continues.
Happy International Workers' Day

✊🏽 Solidarity in action.
In South Korea 🇰🇷, the solar panels in the middle of the highway have a bicycle path underneath - cyclists are protected from the sun, isolated from traffic, and the country can produce clean energy.
We are proud to be collaborating with the Greater Lawndale Healthy Work project and @UICHealthyWork on this important project. Workers need safer & healthier workplaces, & they also need protection against employer reprisals when they voice concerns about workplace conditions.
From the close community partnership with @WFS_Chicago to the interactive and scholarly community engagement activity inspired by the World Cafe Method, each step ensured that the initiative was grounded in evidence and informed by workers.
