Because, of course, nothing changes over time to justify such remakes, right? 🤔 Societal norms and attitudes regarding literature never go through reappraisal. Technology doesn't change, certainly. And once an adaptation is made, it is perfect and immutable 🙄

As I often watch 40s-70s films, I don't understand the idea that each generation "deserves" a new adaptation of a classic novel. Netflix just released a teaser for the new "Pride & Prejudice". Aimee Lou Wood was just cast for the new "Jane Eyre". Why? We don't need them.

Catherine’s knowledge of humanity was always at the center of her comedy, no matter how absurd the character or loopy the material.
