The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department @WHDLASD conducted a scheduled undercover operation last night in West Hollywood's Rainbow District in response to reports of pickpocketing and other criminal activity.
Several arrests were made.
Some community members have expressed concern that the operation was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This is not the case; ICE was not involved.
The City of West Hollywood and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department remain committed to ensuring public safety in our community's entertainment areas and will continue working together to maintain a safe, welcoming, and affirming environment for all.
Please avoid the area: Santa Monica Blvd from San Vicente BIvd to Robertson Blvd.

The deputy was able to quickly get a suspect description and broadcast it to other units.
Deputies located a man matching the description of the suspect in a nearby parking lot. The person was detained and was found to be in possession of drugs and a loaded firearm
See something, say something” results in arrest
We often tell the public “If you see something, say something.” A community member put that into action over the weekend, flagging down one of our patrol deputies after they saw a man with a gun.
AVOID THE AREA: Fire crews and Sheriff’s deputies are currently in the area of 8900 block of Cynthia Street for a reported gas leak. Some preemptive evacuations in the area have been requested by the fire department. Cynthia Street is closed from San Vicente to Hilldale.
The bicyclist was transported to Cedars Sinai Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The white BMW sedan is expected to have a shattered windshield on the passenger side of the vehicle.
UPDATE: FATAL HIT & RUN SUSPECT ARRESTED
Investigators from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s station with the assistance of witnesses and tips from the community were able to identify the vehicle and the driver involved in the tragic hit and run crash that killed Blake Adam Ackerman.
Preliminary information indicates the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Fountain Avenue when the white sedan traveling westbound on Fountain Avenue crashed with the bicyclist. The white sedan fled the scene westbound on Fountain Avenue.
