WHYY Union understands more employers — including NPR + other public media stations — are listing salary ranges when hiring to be transparent to job-seekers.
We have asked @WHYY mgmt to do the same with our job postings, but they continue to refuse 🧵
✅Higher Wages
✅AI Protections
✅Paid parental leave
✅Exapnded healthcare coverage
🏆 A win for WHYY union members 💪
Congratulations to our @WHYYunion family on their new contact!

We couldn’t have won this fight without you.
From your likes, shares and comments on social media, showing up to our rally and writing into WHYY Member Services to express your support, you’ve been with us every step of the way.
For that, you have our utmost gratitude 🙏
WHYY Union is proud to announce we have officially ratified our new 3-year contract!
Here’s what we won:
✅Quicker access to health insurance
✅ 3 extra weeks of paid parental leave
✅ Increased bereavement time
✅ 2 additional holidays
✅ The right to bargain over changes to hybrid policy
✅ Protections against AI
✅ 3% wage increase across the board
Plus, 1/3 of our members won between a 4-11% increase in recognition of seniority and industry experience! 👏
In the three years since @WHYYunion won their first contract, 50% of union staff have left – including me and many of my closest colleagues – thanks largely to hostile management
Despite that, WHYY management is stonewalling our successors – again – on a new contract. Shame.
.@WHYY has seen over 50% employee turnover from our first contract, and 55% of the SAG-AFTRA union has under 5 years of service to WHYY.
Mgmt has made it clear it has no intention of improving quality of life for employees.
WHYY Union refuses to remain complacent.

My friend was unjustly fired from The Baltimore Sun for speaking up to management about maintaining our credibility and journalistic values. Help us keep making The Sun rise. Fill out this form and let them know where you stand✊🏻☀️ https://t.co/olA9r65di2
The wellbeing and satisfaction of employees has to be a priority. Fostering a positive partnership between management and union employees is imperative.
@WHYY’s heart and its success is powered by union work.

Why do you support the union?
This was one of the questions posed to WHYY Union members at a recent all-unit meeting. The responses are clear.
The union matters, and member support is overwhelmingly strong 🧵
