Meanwhile, EB-70 is stopped from Emerson Ave. back to the North Split because of a car on its side. Three right lanes are closed, creating a delay of 35 minutes.
You can try Washington St. instead, just watch the construction leaving downtown. @wibctraffic
Tough start to evening rush. A crash on the west side has closed the ramp from SB-465 to both directions of I-70. The crash has slowed traffic back to Washington St./U.S. 40.
Rerouting traffic can go east on Sam Jones Expressway then rejoin WB-70. @WIBCTraffic
WB-465 on the south side is delayed 17 minutes from I-74 to I-65 because of a crash. The left lane and right lane are blocked, forcing traffic to trickle through the middle.
Rubbernecking is slowing EB-465 to from U.S 31/East to the crash site, costing us an extra six minutes.
Good news from @ClearPath465. The new travel lanes on EB-465 from the White River to Fall Creek are expected to open this weekend. The entrance ramp from Allisonville Rd. to EB-465 should also open, weather permitting.
This work started in March of 2022. We're almost there👊
NB-65 is *closed* at W. 29th St. because of a serious crash with possible entrapment. A semi is stopped on the right shoulder and crews are responding to the car of the left shoulder.
Traffic is stopped to W. 21st St. Make your exit there. @WIBCTraffic
All Phase 3 closures are now in place on the Level Up 31 project:
- SB Meridian St. closed between 106th St. & 96th St.
- 106th St. ramp to SB Meridian St. closed
- I-465 ramps to U.S. 31 NB shifted
- NB U.S. 31 ramp to 106th St. closed
- 106th St. ramp to NB U.S. 31 closed
Ouch. Crash on NB-465 at the Crawfordsville Rd./I-74 interchange. My view is at a distance, but it looks like a center lane is blocked. Regardless, it will add to our post race slowdown on NB-465 that currently stretches to W. 21st St.
When leaving your lot, please, please give extra mind to the people walking. It's raining, your windows could be fogged from the humidity, and visibility will likely be lower, not to mention those who biked to the track have to bike home. @WIBCTraffic
A reminder that you probably won't get to choose your direction when you exit your parking lot. For example, if you exit lot 1B and end up on Georgetown Rd., you're heading north towards Lafayette Rd. and I-65. @WIBCTraffic
🏁 INDY 500 TRAFFIC ALERT 🏁
After the race on Sunday, there will be several ramp closures in Indianapolis to facilitate traffic leaving IMS. View the map or click alt text for the full list.
Just a little bit of chaos on NB-465 at W. 10th St. We have cars merging into the exit lanes to Crawfordsville Rd., not to mention cars coming off of the entrance ramp (huh). There's also an INDOT vehicle in the gore point.
Even with that, incidents are at a minimum so far🙌
Full house on the exit ramps/lanes from I-465 to Crawfordsville Rd. The northbound exit (pic left) is backed up in a single line past W. 21st St. - about 1.5 miles.
Exit to W. 10th from northbound is three lanes of standstill traffic (pic right).
It'd definitely race day, baby.
That's stopped traffic on W. 10th St. over I-465. The grind stretches all the way into Speedway to Lynhurst Dr. and then some. Also, there's a line of traffic about a half a mile long from NB-465 to W. 10th St.
Things are picking up, especially on I-465 exits to the west side.
🏁 It’s Race Day, Baby!
The engines are roaring, the fans are ready, & the Greatest Spectacle in Racing is here!

There line exiting to Crawfordsville Rd. from SB-465 is now about a half of a mile. Other exits - W. 38th St., Rockville Rd., Washington St. - are looking pretty smooth for the moment.
Overcast, but we're pretty dry so far. @WIBCTraffic
NB-65 is stopped on the northwest side (Pike) between W. 79th St. and Whitestown Parkway because of a crash. Two right lanes are blocked, leaving just one lane of travel.
Delay is at 46 minutes. @WIBCTraffic
