@abprogressive Setup costs? A bit of office space, a few staff, computers/printers, bit of equipment... really what is so expensive about it?

@abprogressive We already pay for those things through federal tax, the only new expenses is the local management of them. It doesn't cost much to manage.

@abprogressive However if we collect it instead of the federal government we can distribute it as needed rather than Ottawa deciding where to send it.

@abprogressive As part of the separation, Canada would have to provide us with our share of the military assets. From there we would upgrade as needed.

@abprogressive It comes from Alberta collecting the taxes currently paid to the federal government. That is where we pay into transfer payments.
