“World Quantum Readiness Day is an important reminder that the conversation needs to move from awareness to implementation, perhaps now more than ever as the countdown to Q-Day grows shorter. Organizations have spent years discussing the potential impact of quantum computing, but many of the systems being designed and deployed today will still be operating well into the quantum era.

Readiness must extend beyond servers and software. Vehicles, medical devices, industrial equipment and critical infrastructure can remain in service for 10, 15 or even 20 years, and the security decisions made at the semiconductor level today may determine whether those systems can adapt later. Organizations should be identifying where cryptography is embedded, prioritizing long-life assets and building cryptographic agility and hardware-based trust into their technology roadmaps now.

The transition will take years, which is exactly why practical implementation needs to begin today. Quantum readiness means ensuring the devices, networks and infrastructure we are building now can remain trusted as cryptographic standards continue to evolve.”
