When an art teacher and a 5th grade teacher combine their strengths, you get a summer STEAM camp. We enjoyed having 13 kids attend our first ever STEAM Camp, and it won’t be our last one. We are already planning for next year! #successatJCSS

We celebrated the amazing ladies in our lives on Friday. Each student wrote a Times Mother of the Year article and shared it with his/her mom. We treated them with muffins, cinnamon rolls, and bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes. #successatjcss

Day 2 of Run for the Milestones. We had our creative juices flowing while creating a Derby headpiece with a paragraph with specific language arts requirements to share at our Derby Fashion Show. We also raced our pool noodle horses! #successatjcss

Day 1 of Derby Day consisted of math and reading! We also began our narrative piece about the day in the life of a derby horse from the perspective of the horse which tied to an informational article about what a typical day is like for a derby horse. #successatjcss

March Madness always brings the engagement. These kids had to determine my shooting percentages at UNG and compare them to the GOATs (MJ and Kobe). We read about how Newton’s Law relates to Lebron dunking and solved LOTS of math, ELA, and reading questions. #successatjcss

March Madness Day 1 was full of basketball passages including comparing and contrasting Allen Fieldhouse and Cameron Indoor Stadium, reading about the GOAT (MJ), and even determining my shooting percentages at UNG and comparing them to MJ. More to come tomorrow! #successatjcss

Fifth graders still love egg hunts, and we need more practice with decimals and fractions——so why not merge the two? Instant engagement as these kids had to earn being able to eat the candy, and the winning team won prize baskets!
