Say hello to Twiggy! 🐵 The Maryland Zoo has welcomed a new chimpanzee to its troop. Twiggy, a 40-year-old female chimp, recently arrived from the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens and is now settling into her new home in Baltimore. Twiggy already has connections to Maryland Zoo staff and even two members of the zoo's chimpanzee troop, which zookeepers say could help make her transition smoother. Maryland Zoo staff say, guests may be able to spot her by her receded hairline, larger size and unique habit of extending her left pinky while eating. Her arrival brings the Maryland Zoo's chimpanzee troop to 17.
