The 14th Annual International Women in Surgery Career Symposium was a resounding success! Surgeons and aspiring surgeons from all over the country and the world — including Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, China, Taiwan, India, Turkey, Netherland, Italy, Spain, and Canada, among others — gathered in Tampa, FL. The event on Saturday began with a welcome dance by the planning committee and faculty. The second song was a message from the faculty to the aspiring surgeons: “Life is like a runway and you're the designer
Wings of a butterfly, eyes of a tiger
Whatever you want, baby, choose your fighter…..” The plenary sessions that followed were truly inspiring.
