Just a reminder to get out there and weed any newly planted #trees. For smaller trees (like those suppled by @WoodlandTrust) it’s very much a case of weed ‘em or lose ‘em!
Want to learn all about #trees while strolling around the historical market town of Caistor? Then join me this Sun 11th June. See link for further details… https://t.co/zXv1hS4cPJ

It's #NationalTreeWeek, the start of tree planting season. Remember to establish a tree, you need to care for it for the first 2-3 years of it's life. More in the post below... #trees
It’s great to plant a tree, but to make a real difference you need to care for them for the first 2-3 years of their life. This means weeding, mulching and watering during long dry periods. I spent this weekend caring for 350 trees planted last Autumn with the Caistor GO2...🧵1/3
Very pleaseed to be Certified as a Tree Risk-Benefit Validator after attending the excellent VALID Tree Risk training course earlier this week. I feel it's the next generation of tree risk assessment, streets ahead of the competition and will help me to save more #trees! 🌳🦸♂️
Those with a love of the great outdoors should take note of Caistor’s Tree Trail, a new walking tour of up to two miles around this historic market town, featuring 27 different species of trees 🌳

Environmental Group. The trees were swamped by thick weeds, some as tall as 2m, and in desperate need of water. After borrowing a water bowser, a trailer and enough volunteers to clear, weed and water the whole site. We only lost 5-10% of the trees, what a great result! 🧵2/3
“They’re out there somewhere — hidden in field corners, woods, hedges, even gardens and parks. [This research] is like a map for buried treasure”

I’m lucky to be looking after this #oak on behalf of 1st Grasby #Scouts, grown from an acorn from the #Gilwell Oak. It is looking a bit unwell so I’m charged to improve it’s health. The first step has been to re-pot it as it was pot-bound. Watch this space to see how it does…
