Thanks to the organizers, tech supports, speakers and the audience, it was a great productive workshop and I learned literally a lot. New ideas and thoughts, and I will for sure contact some of the speakers for a deeper discussion. Thank you all #IPS22
I should not forget to mention that it was one of the best organized hybrid conferences that I have ever joined. Smooth and easy access to the program, well established platform, and generous and dedicated support. Congrats to all involved, especially Michael Zaigh! 🎉👏#IPS22
#IPS22 over too soon! 😢So many great talks, so many nice collegues. 😊Big thanks to Frédéric Marsolais and Hideki Takahashi for ending the plenary session and the whole organisation committee making this great conference happening!🎇 @FrdricMarsolai1
Prof. Dr. Ann Cuypers finishes the plenary session with her great talk about how "SULFUR IN PLANT RESPONSES TO CADMIUM STRESS: FROM SIGNALING TO ACCLIMATION". Nicely done Cd feeding experiments revealed an initial GSH depletion as a redox alert followed by ACC production. #IPS22
London Swartz presents his "OPEN-SOURCE CLOUD BASED PHENOTYPING SERIES". He is the engineer talking at the plant sulfur conference about iron😂😉 He developed a shoot phenotyper (OPEN-leaf) 👍very useful for the community #IPS22@DMC_lab
Spencer Matt just gave a talk about how soybeans deal with cadmium and the potential role of sulfur in this process. Just curious how it would look like in heavy metal tolerant plant species, such as Arabidopsis harelli?? #IPS22
Great talk by Prof. Dr. David Mendoza-Cózatl: "UNDERSTANDING THE MOLECULAR MECHANISMS MEDIATING THE CROSSTALK BETWEEN IRON AND SULFUR NETWORKS IN PLANTS". His lab developed an automatic pipeline to analyse Y2H experiments to investigate TF in big data approaches😲#IPS22@DMC_lab
Dr. Bao-Luo Ma talks about the "INTERACTIVE EFFECT OF NITROGEN AND SULFUR SUPPLY ON YIELD AND RELATED TRAITS OF CANOLA". Canola is a rapeseed cultivar with low erucic acid content. He stresses the importance of S:N balance in field cultivation. #IPS22
Spencer Matt explaines that "EXCESS SULFUR ADDITION DOES NOT MEDIATE CADMIUM TOXICITY IN SOYBEAN". He investigated root plaque, intracellular Cd concentration and chelatins, but excess S does not reduce Cd uptake or toxicity. #IPS22
Prof. Dr. Dimitris Bouranis leads us "TOWARDS INTEGRATED SULFUR-BASED BIOSTIMULATION AND AGRONOMIC BIOFORTIFICATION OF OLIVE TREE PRODUCTION". His scientific monitoring of plants' nutrient demand increases olive fruit production and creates olive oil of superior quality. #IPS22
it was a really great talk by Markus Wirtz about how plants control shoot and root growth via autophagy, systemic sucrose transport, and the TOR kinase... he should be invited by @mpipz_cologne for the Wednesday seminar! #IPS22
Zixuan Lu presents "AN INVERS RELATION BETWEEN PROTEINACEOUS AND NON-PROTEINACEOUS S-AMINO ACIDS". She investigates the biosynthesis of S-methylcysteine, γ-glutamyl-S-methylcysteine and S-methylhGSH to improve nutritional quality in common bean. #IPS22
Fantastic talk by Prof. Dr. Frédéric Marsolais: "THE CYSTEINE-RICH 11S GLOBULIN LEGUMIN FROM COMMON BEAN CONTAINS A PEPTIDE RESISTANT TO CLEAVAGE BY PEPSIN (pH ≥ 2) AND CHYMOTRYPSIN". He connects O-glycosylation to the context of food allegies. #IPS22
Saeer Adeel reports on "A GENETIC APPROACH TO DECIPHER THE IMPACT OF METHYTHIOADENOSINE ACCUMULATION ON PLANT DEVELOPMENT AND SULFUR METABOLISM". Very thorough and elaborate investigations of mutants from a phenotype suppressor screen. #IPS22
Prof. Dr. Barbara Moffatt explaines how “THE EFFECTS OF REDUCED METHYLTHIOADENOSINE RECYCLING ARE RESPONSIVE TO INCREASED SPERMIDINE SUPPLY“. A long way from fascinating weird phenotypes through a lot of surprises to some real ideas of what is going on. #IPS22
Fantastic keynote lecture by Dr. Markus Wirtz who unravels for us “NOVEL LINKS BETWEEN ENERGY SENSOR KINASES AND THE ASSIMILATORY SULFUR REDUCTION PATHWAY”. He explains why Arabidopsis WT maintains root growth during sulfur starvation in cost of shoot growth #IPS22
Anna Wawrzynska shows that “SUGAR SIGNALING IS AFFECTED BY SLIM1 DURING SULFUR DEFICIENCY IN ARABIDOPSIS THALIANA”. Slim1_KO mutant is severely affected by high glucose and osmotic stress. Further results indicate a positive impact of SLIM1 on anthocyanin synthesis. #IPS22
Fanélie Bachelet discusses the "ROLE OF VACUOLAR SULFATE IN NUTRITIONAL QUALITY OF PEA SEEDS”. She focuses on sulfate transporter of group 4 to investigate if vacuolar sulfate availability could regulate storage protein production and influence nutritional seed quality. #IPS22
Great talk by Prof. Dr. Karine Gallardo who is giving "A HOLISTIC OVERVIEW OF THE IMPACT OF SULFUR DEFICIENCY IN PEA FACING WATER STRESS". She stresses peas simultaneously with -S and mild drought and finds a synergistic restraint in reproductive processes = seeds⬇️
