Austria Manufacturing PMI dropped to recessionary levels in April -- should we be concerned?
Some might argue that it's just one country and it's only one month's data, but an interesting paragraph in the press release caught my eye:
"Contributing to the decline in the headline PMI in April was a sharp and accelerated reduction in new orders, the most marked since November last year. Around 41% of firms reported a drop in new work, citing the effects of market uncertainty, high prices and full warehouses amongst customers. New export orders exhibited a similar trend to that of total new business, falling sharply and at the quickest rate in the year-to-date."
