Improving awareness, action and change against sexual assault and gender-based violence for students, administration, and primary and secondary survivors.
Tonight WMU students will come together to create support cards for survivors. We will use art to express our emotions related to systemic sexual and gender-based violence, survivorhood, and healing. These cards will be collected and displayed in the FIRE Place and online!
We have two events coming up! April 10th will be a community based workshop, and then April 14th will be specifically for students! DM us if you’re interested in attending and we can sign you up while seats remain. #30daysofsaam#wechoose#sexualassaultawarenessmonth
We’ve talked a lot about what consent does look like, but what about what it doesn’t look like? Stay in tune with your surroundings and recognize how you or others around you are feeling. #WeChooseConsent#Consent
Don’t let consent confuse you. It’s a simple statement that we can all do, we just need to practice it! Keep these words in the back of your mind when thinking about consent, asking or receiving it. Let’s normalize the conversation 🤩 #consent#WeChooseConsent
Don’t get lost in the world of online dating. Remember, even if you are looking for a hookup, swiping right is not consent. Feelings can change in the moment so always check in with someone before engaging in sexual activity. #WeChooseConsent

In honor of today being the review of WMU’s Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct Policy, here is the background of what that actually entails. Don’t forget to use your voice today at the event through ExperinceWMU. #WeChoose#UseYourVoice#WMU
YOU have the opportunity to use your voice during the review of WMU’s Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct Policy. This is a great time to educate yourself and provide input on what you feel will help benefit the wellbeing of our campus. It’s time to be apart of the change.
The first step is believing the survivor. Although it may be difficult to hear someone’s story, react with compassion and a calm response. They have gone through enough emotions, comfort them. Listen to them. #WeChooseToListen#WeChoose#Believe#listen#support
Listening to someone who speaks out about their experiences is one of the most important things you can do. This is the type of support that is welcomed during these times. Take a step back and listen. #WeChooseToListen#Listen#Support#WMU
We are here to listen and support you. Remember, it is okay to ask for help. Check out these resources that are available for you or someone in need. #WeChoose#WeChooseToListen#Support
⚠️Trigger Warning⚠️
We want you to remember, difficult situations can arise and happen to anyone. It is okay not to know the answer to everything, but the most important thing you can do is listen.
