She also highlighted the struggles faced by women in rural areas, including poor infrastructure such as bad roads and limited access to financial services.

While acknowledging the progress made so far, she emphasized the need for sustained & deliberate action to accelerate gender-responsive leadership across all sectors.

The meeting centred on advancing women’s leadership and strengthening adherence to the Gender Equality Act in public appointments.

In her address, Kathewera Banda gave an analysis of the underrepresentation of women in high-profile public appointments, including Cabinet.
