Women’s Legal Resources Centre Executive Director Maggie Kathewera Banda has called on government and financial institutions to rethink how they design business policies and models so they can better support different groups of women entrepreneurs.
She also highlighted the struggles faced by women in rural areas, including poor infrastructure such as bad roads and limited access to financial services.
While acknowledging the progress made so far, she emphasized the need for sustained & deliberate action to accelerate gender-responsive leadership across all sectors.
The Gender Equality Act, mandates a 60:40 gender representation in decision-making positions.

The meeting centred on advancing women’s leadership and strengthening adherence to the Gender Equality Act in public appointments.
