Not a wonderful photograph as it was taken 44 years ago from a vantage point that has long since disappeared, which was at the top of one of the former brick quarries on Woodthorpe Road, but is a good example of how the area around today's Plant Shop once looked like.
The 5 people who received the 'Mapperley Secret Santa' are Val, Damian, Malcolm, Kate and 'the Man who picks up the litter around Westdale Ln CO-OP', who inspired this whole thing, we haven't managed to see him yet to give him his gift! They all make our community better place!
A message from Ali & Geoff who organised the collections for Arnold Food Bank:
Thank you for all the donations at Haywood Road CC, the response was wonderful. I am truly humbled by the fantastic response from the local community & would like to thank each & every one of you.
Would you like to nominate someone who you think makes the community a better place? Or someone who's helped you personally? Please message me or email me at [email protected]. I'll then make a shortlist of five or six people and drop them off a little thank you gift.
You can donate food and/or Christmas gifts to the St Anns and Sneinton Foodstore at the Mapperley Top CO-OP, deliveries are made to the foodstore twice a week by volunteers.

You still have time to donate a gift for a child or young person to Bags of Blessings. Drop them off to the CO-OP in Mapperley Top or the Haywood Road Community Centre.
