I won the FCC callsign lottery overnight and I'm now N0VT. Having my 3 initials and correct call area was cool but I got a lot of requests for repeats on both phone and CW. 73 N0VT (ex WR0H)
With some cooperation from the weatherman and the bucket truck guy I hope to have my tower + antennas up the week after Thanksgiving. Faced with the decision whether to put the sat yagis up and I'm not sure it's worth it just to deal with intentional QRM. #amsat
ROVERS: For Sale--Garmin eTrex 30x GPS. Bought a year ago as a refurb, can't tell from brand new. Shows maidenhead grid position, gridlines, etc. $130 includes flat rate USPS shipping. Paypal only.
I took my remaining antenna (80/40 dipole) down yesterday so the tree guy could come today and clear a spot up in the trees for my yagi. He couldn't get his truck in because of wet ground so I'm QRT and he'll call back "after things dry out." #MurphyRidesAgain
Concrete poured this morning and the base of my first-ever tower is now in the ground! Next step is for the tree guy to clear out a hole in the canopy for the 3 ele SteppIR, 2M yagi and the satellite yagi el rotator at the top of the mast.
Rhetorical question-why do satellites and drama go hand and hand? Intentional QRM on the birds and the amsat bbs would be the envy of any teenage girl. I don't see this anywhere else in ham radio.

@WI4T_ Yep. However, since the 440 is mainly used for transmitting and my transverter is 25 watts, I'm hoping I'll be okay to hit the sats. And if not, I'll address it when the time comes.
I'll be bringing home a new HF beam and 50' of tower next month. The plan is to mount my elevation rotor and satellite yagis on the top of the mast in hopes that I'll clear some of the trees that are keeping me off the air during the spring/summer. Yay me.
@twjones85 It was on several, but the one I got it from is CQ-contest.

I've been listening to the Hamvention QSO Party. The exchange is proving tricky for some: "What year did you last attend Dayton?" / "I've never been there. I've been real sick you see and can't get out. / "What year did you last attend?"/ <crickets>
