#onstorm#onwx β οΈ Air Quality Update for Southern Ontario
VALID: 5:15 PM - June 6, 2023
We are continuing to experience very high to unhealthy levels of air pollution this afternoon across Southern Ontario. This is caused by the wildfire smoke from Quebec.
Starting to see the air quality nearing the unhealthy level with the Air Quality Index (AQI) approaching 200+ in parts of the GTA with the worst air quality being reported in the Belleville area currently at 250.
We can't stress this enough, please avoid being outside for extended periods with this poor air quality. It can even have an effect on healthy individuals.
The situation will likely worsen over the next few days as smoke is relentlessly blown into our region from Quebec. Tomorrow morning looks particularly concerning which may make these air quality numbers pale in comparison.
With what will likely be continuing air quality issues, we decided to put together a new air quality map which uses data from https://t.co/DgapwVuIuh and we extrapolate it into an easy-to-read polygon map.
While this isn't perfect, it should help give a good overview of where the worst air quality is located in the region. Let us know what you think. We will be posting this as needed when poor air quality is expected.
