Vince Russo was the guest on the latest Wrestling Life with @BenVealWrites. He was on to promote his book, Total Nonstop Agony: The Rise and Fall of TNA.
Vince Russo on Eric Bischoff:
"Out of everybody I ever worked with in the business, he is the person I like the least... Eric made the decision from day one to be an absolute a**hole to me."
Russo on why he and Jim Cornette never got along:
"Jim Cornette hates people from New York. It's that simple. Nobody's more New York than me, so the second Jim Cornette meets me, he's going to have a problem with me, and he's going to decide he's going to treat me a certain way."
Russo on Triple H running WWE creative:
"Triple H has no business whatsoever being involved in creative. I did not see a creative bone in Triple H's body... Just because you're a 16-time world champion doesn't mean you know how to write a television show. He doesn't have a clue."
Russo on Dixie Carter's TNA leadership:
"She was afraid to make decisions, and you cannot have a leader of your company afraid to make a decision... that is inevitably what bit her in the a$s."
Russo on running a wrestling company and Tony Khan:
"These guys are not your friends, they want something from you... I made it a rule to never be friends with talent, and I think that probably hurts Tony to some degree."
Russo on WWE under TKO versus Vince McMahon:
"Even with Vince, man, it was always talent first, talent first, talent first. You get the feeling that TKO don't even know these people's names."
Russo on Hulk Hogan's death:
"The day Hulk died... this business will never be the same again. It's Babe Ruth dying."
Monday Night Raw's early tapings from NYC's Manhattan Center were truly special. Veteran referee

Luke Menzies (FKA Ridge Holland) says he was supposed to apologize on-air the week after the Big E incident, Vince McMahon cut it at the last minute:
“I remember the week after, we were supposed to go out for a segment on SmackDown. Vince had arranged for me to cut an apology promo just before we were about to go out live. Now I don’t know if this was a test. Pretty poor taste, but we were about to go out for our segment. It was live. I remember him counting me down. It was just like an apology thing and I didn’t know what I was gonna say. I was just gonna be as real as I could, speak from the heart.
It went like 10, 9, 8, and it got to 5, 4, and then I saw Vince and Bruce [Prichard] just go like, ‘Nah.’ They cut it at the last minute, the last second. We just went out for the segment and I thought from then on, I never felt the same way about the company. I thought that they just did that to mess with me.”

Luke Menzies (FKA Ridge Holland) says the Ilja Dragunov injury angle in 2023 was his idea, got told it was ‘too close to the bone’:
“That was my idea. I thought it’s a gimme. I thought why not? It’s right there in front of us. Why not use it? And I was okay using it.
The idea was that I was going in there trying to prove myself as a babyface and trying to redeem myself. It was always like a redemption storyline. But then things kept going wrong, almost like my career. And I was gonna keep hurting people accidentally. And then the character turn would be, ‘Maybe I’m supposed to do this. Do I like this? Maybe I do. Actually, I do.’ And then that’s where the heel turn would have come.
They were all for it, and then after the thing happened with Ilja, and it did really well on social media, there was a lot of buzz about it and Ilja did a great job. Shawn [Michaels] pulled me and he said, ‘Look, we’ve had word from top down that it’s a little bit too close to the bone, so we’re gonna have to cool you off.’ I went, ‘Okay.’”
