BREAKING: U.S. forces enforced the naval blockade against Iran on Tuesday by disabling an unladen oil tanker that was attempting to sail toward Kharg Island. CENTCOM said the Curacao-flagged M/T Belma ignored repeated warnings while traveling through international waters toward an Iranian port.
A U.S. aircraft fired Hellfire missiles into the ship’s smokestack, disabling the vessel and stopping its transit. CENTCOM said the blockade resumed at 4 p.m. ET on July 14 and that, in its first 24 hours, two compliant commercial vessels were redirected while one non-compliant vessel was disabled.
