~1 in 5 (~20%) people in Kitchener voted (vs. 29% & 28% in 2014 & 2018 respectively) in the recent municipal election. We mapped voter turnout by ward to better understand turnout dynamics. Thanks to clerk office @CityKitchener for sharing data so we could make these maps!
We also polled on Shelter Capacity & Housing Policy. See the link above for detailed & interactive results with various breakdowns by geography and the polling methodology details.
At the regional level, this poll has a margin of error of ~3.9% at a 95% confidence interval.
Our latest poll dug into local air travel. We asked:
- How many round-trip airline flights do you expect to take in the next 12 months?
- Have you ever flown in or out of Waterloo Airport (YKF)?

Note: In Oct, the Ontario Gov tabled Bill 23 (More Homes Built Faster) which may result in our ROP being overridden or modified. The ROP targeted 121,000 new homes in ~28 years (by 2051). Bill 23 requests the Region to plan to add 70,000 new homes in ~8 years (by 2031)
Our latest poll dug into housing policy. We presented Regional Official Plan details & asked about:
- Happiness with plan targets
- Improvements to plan
- Trust in Gov, Developers & Advocacy groups
- Awareness & uptake in plan public engagement

@ourjoymovement Hi @ourjoymovement, we design our poll question options to be unbiased. Not providing all options would inherently bias the poll. We mean no hate by this. We are trying to quantify how people feel, regardless of what those feelings are.
@atheistpoodle@_MikeRamsay@jonkay Thanks for catching that mistake. We've fixed it on our website & all the corresponding charts👍

@etcgirlthefirst Agreed, and ditto 🙏
We do not intend (and actively try to avoid) doing things that would sway results. The goal is collection/communication not persuasion.
We're not perfect but aim to get better everyday
