This find might not look like much, but it is a rare and valuable item from 18th century London – a box made from tortoiseshell.
From excavations at 55-56 Chamber St, London carried out by MOLA on behalf of Marldon.
Massive thanks go out to our Project Manager Paul Thompson, Field team and Processing team for all their hard work on this important discovery.

@DrJaninaRamirez I suspect most of those comments come from pathetic self-entitled incompetents who are eaten up with jealousy. It's not always easy but such fools are best ignored.
Earlier this year, the Fulham FROGs (Foreshore Recording and Observation Group) got together to explore the @Fulham_Palace. In this FROG Blog, Rachel Hosier shares her memories of the visit. It was a fun and informative outing, highly recommended!

We had a really useful morning on the foreshore in the City today. We're using GPS to plot some of the features with some of our volunteers. It's the first step in a big project to make all our plans and drawings available digitally!
@DrSadieWatson, @WRathouse + I had loads of fun making #Beaker pottery and #BronzeAge roundhouses with #BeamPark's new residents. It was about connecting with the past, meeting neighbours, + making new friendships for the future.

Holme II was dated to be constructed in the same year as Seahenge, lending to the theory that the two timber circles were built as a pair.
One theory is burial: Seahenge was used for excarnation and, once the bones were clean, the remains were buried in Holme II
