Lastly, we participated in functional activities in the @SportingKC and @ChildrensMercy gymnasium. Students were thrilled to engage in an innovative shared space for adult and youth athletes. We are blessed to have had this experience, thank you!
Today the Medicus Cohort had an amazing immersive experience at the @ChildrensMercy Sports Medicine Center at Village West. We learned about the innovative practices in modern Sports Medicine and even were able to practice our skills next to professional athletes.
Once the medical team determines the injury, they then create a treatment plan. We saw how a zero-entry lift pool can be used for a variety of injuries and how the cameras inside the pool help monitor the athletes. We were even able to see a Sporting KC player demonstrate.
We are so honored to have the opportunity to continue our partnership and see things like the anti-gravity treadmill in action during our visit in April! We cannot wait!
An anti-gravity treadmill sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but it's real! Check out how our Village West @CMsportsmed facility uses cutting-edge technology to get athletes back in the game.
We cannot wait to continue this partnership with @CMsportsmed and pitch them our innovative sports medicine plans. Who knows, one of our student scholar’s ideas could lead to the next big idea in Sports Medicine that can be used at their facilities! Thanks again to our guests!
Lastly, we were able to share with the experts our public project ideas. We are creating sports injury prevention and rehab plans that have never been created before. How exciting that we were able to share the brainstorming stage with experts in the field! @WSExplorers
We were also able to engage in Sports Physical Therapy activities that they use with their youth athletes using the 4 steps of injury rehab: rest, range, strength, and function. Who says injury rehab can’t also be fun?! @WSExplorers @CMsportsmed
We learned that the first, and one of the most important, step in physical therapy is evaluating the athlete‘s body. We evaluated our future sports medicine scholars with the assistance of the experts. @WSExplorers @CMsportsmed
Today we had an in-house field trip with @CMsportsmed Sports Physical Therapists and learned all about youth physical therapy. Thank you for the wonderful experience @ChildrensMercy !
We cannot thank @followMNU Sports Medicine Department and @CramerProducts enough for giving our Medicus Cohort an experience they will never forget! Look at those future Sports Medicine professionals!
Great discussion about concussions and head injuries happening here! I am amazed at their knowledge and level of questioning they are sharing. @WSExplorers
Did you know sports trainers are well trained in emergency medicine? We experienced how to handle emergency situations during athletic events. @WSExplorers
Hands-on learning is what education is all about! Check out what our scholars learned about anatomy, ultrasound therapy, cupping, and electrical stimulation. @WSExplorers
