Last week, I attended the WSIS Forum 2026 🇺🇳

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is a United Nations multistakeholder forum focused on digital governance, connectivity, and the development of an inclusive information society.

Among the sessions held during the Forum was the ITU and GSMA presentation, “Building Fit-for-Purpose Networks: Emergency Telecommunications in Action.”

Separately, the Telcoin Network is exclusively validated by GSMA member mobile network operators, with 15 currently participating in the Adiri Testnet.

I had the opportunity to connect with delegates during the Forum. I look forward to working together in the months ahead.

On 6–7 July, I had the honour of representing President of the Lebanese Republic General #Joseph_Aoun and leading Lebanon’s delegation to the inaugural Global Dialogue on AI Governance, held at the Palexpo conference centre in Geneva with representatives from 169 countries, alongside the WSIS Forum 2026.

In Lebanon’s national statement, I presented our vision for using AI to support national recovery, modernize public institutions, create economic opportunities and advance sustainable development.

I emphasized that AI is not merely a technological agenda, but a national capability, responsibility and promise to our people. Progress must deliver tangible improvements in citizens’ lives, while governance should provide innovation with trust, direction and safety.

I also outlined the Ministry’s priorities, including the NUMŪ programme for digital and AI capacity-building, the digitization of public services, stronger legislative, technical and cybersecurity readiness, support for startups and researchers, and greater engagement with the Lebanese diaspora.

Digital sovereignty does not mean isolation. It means having the capacity to understand the technologies we adopt, govern our data, protect critical systems and make decisions aligned with our national values and needs.

Lebanon will not stand by and watch. We will build as we learn, govern as we innovate, and contribute to shaping a safe and inclusive global AI future.
