Titanic's sister ship RMS Olympic was launched into the water on this day 115 years ago. Unlike Titanic, Olympic enjoyed a long and successful career as an ocean liner, in service from 1911 to 1935.
By the end of the First World War 8 White Star Line ships had been sunk by enemy action, 5 by torpedos (Arabic, Cymric, Afric, Southland and Justicia), 2 by mines (Britannic and Laurentic) and 1 (Georgic) by a German raider. Oceanic had also been wrecked by a navigational error.
