PAANO KA HINDI KAKAININ NG SISTEMA?
In his commencement speech to the graduates of UP Law 2026, Mayor Vico Sotto shared that he is always asked by people how he keeps his integrity. They ask for his advice on the age old question of:
“Paano kami hindi kakainin ng sistema?”
As a result, he shared ten things he does or thinks about regularly to avoid being eaten by the system.
Here are the TEN THINGS that Mayor Vico Sotto does or follows to keep his integrity:
1. Preparation is more important than courage.
2. Make a list of non-negotiables and review them regularly.
3. When in doubt, choose faith conscience and integrity over money power and ambition.
4. Study cognitive dissonance and continuously identify how and where it affects you. Your decision-making and opinion-forming.
5. Get out of your echo chamber from time to time.
6. Check your ego every single day.
7. Have people in your life who share the same or similar principles, values, and beliefs.
8. Allow said people in #7 to keep you grounded.
9. Give these people the license to hold you accountable.
10. Have a healthy level of respect but also be willing to go against the status quo.
Then the crowd cheered in applause. 👏

I support doing all ten but I would like to personally highlight Numbers 3, 6, and 7! 💯

Sa totoo lang, I don’t remember even THE Miriam Defensor-Santiago insinuate, badger, or insult fellow senator judges for not being lawyers. But this pia cayetano, who can’t even hold a candle to MDS, is so full of herself. What a brat! How shameful! #CONVICTsara#SHUTUPpia
“Natural lamang na magtanong ang sambayanan na kung ang ordinaryong Pilipino ay ipinapanagot, bakit hindi ang pinakamakapangyarihan na opisyal sa pamahalaan?”

Kiko Pangilinan asks Calilung for his credentials, Calilung lays down his credentials
Moments later…
Robin: ASK KO LANG PO CREDENTIALS NI CALILUNG
Shuta not listening na, nanghingi ng credentials yung WALANG CREDENTIALS PARA MAGING SENADOR at senator judge 😭
⚠️ After all that’s been said and done in the first three days of trial, one thing needs to be said again and again.
There is just so much due process for Rodrigo and Sara Duterte but so little to none for the poor and powerless like the victims of Tokhang. 👊

dapat ang mga high schools ngayon, gumagawa ng weekly reaction paper for the impeachment trial. we need them kids involved in current events, especially as big as this, early
Vice President Sara Duterte is being challenged to personally face what she described as a "bloodbath" in her impeachment trial, instead of appearing through "proxies." #VPOnTrial

The refusal of Vice President Sara Duterte’s defense team to plainly declare that their client is innocent was the most telling moment of the first day of the impeachment trial.
The defense never said Sara Duterte is innocent. Not even once.
Instead, Duterte’s defense team devoted much of their opening arguments to procedural objections and technical issues rather than directly denying the allegations against the Vice President.
It appears that even the defense does not believe it can convince the public that Sara Duterte is innocent. Their strategy now seems to be relying on technicalities instead of answering the accusations with evidence.
If your client is innocent, say she is. Show the evidence to disprove and discredit the evidence preliminarily shown by the Prosecution. Explain it to the Filipino people. That is what the public wants to hear.
Hiding behind technicality could backfire because impeachment is different from an ordinary criminal case.
This is sui generis and hence yung behavior ng depensa na masyadong hostile and combative as if this were an ordinary adversarial proceeding, I will caution against that.
The defense should avoid becoming “overly technical and overly hostile,” stressing that the impeachment court is ultimately accountable to the Filipino people.
Duterte’s refusal to personally appear before the impeachment court deprives the public of hearing her directly respond to the charges.
The Filipino people deserved to hear her stand before the impeachment court and state her position. Instead, they heard lawyers arguing technicalities while remaining silent on the most basic question: Is Sara Duterte innocent?

Ang paalala ng @nuplphilippines : "Be the best lawyers money cannot buy".

WHO IS ATTY. VIRGIL LIGUTAN BEFORE THIS WEEK?
Atty. Virgil Ligutan was a pro bono human rights lawyer before being thrust into the national spotlight this week.
He helped free Bambi Beltran: an award-winning artist, writer, and recipient of the 2020 Deutsche Welle (DW) Freedom of Speech award.
She was arrested on April 19, 2020 without a warrant and was detained for 60 hours because her satirical FB post about the COVID-19 situation in Sitio Zapatera had enraged the late Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella.
Her second arrest came on August 12, 2020, on a cyber-libel case filed by an April Dequito.
The third arrest was on May 26, 2023 when police from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Cebu Provincial Field Unit (CIDG-PFU) appeared at Beltran’s doorstep around 4 pm.
Ligutan took on the case and made sure that Bambi would get the best legal aid she could. The case has since been dismissed.
And now, he’s a pro bono private prosecutor for the House of Representatives still fighting for human rights and accountability in the impeachment trial of BP Sara Duterte.
👏👏👏

🚨 Atty Virgil Ligutan: MAN OF THE HOUR.
“I’m not yet done, RELAX”
“Please, hold your horses”
“That is a misreading of the rules”
“That doesn’t serve your interests, it serves the interests of the prosecution”
“I won’t even reply to that your Honor”
Defense Lawyer, Atty CJ Narvasa is an embarrassment. Imagine people at the podium laughing at him.
ETO YUNG NILAMON NG BUHAY. Ganito yun.
OKAY PA BA MGA DDS???
🚨 FINALLY!
Despite all objections and pedantic attempts by the Defense to stop or delay…
…the video where Sara Duterte admitted contracting an assassin to kill the President, First Lady, and former House Speaker HAS BEEN PLAYED.
2 minutes and 18 seconds.
