@NoahRevoy A lot of the old testament is coded this way. A modern writer would say "Joe went to Y" , where the Bible would say "Joe left X and went to Y." A tragic number of spiritual lessons are lost in translation to the english reader.
This chart reminded me of one my pastor’s best lines: “truth without kindness is mean. Kindness without truth is meaningless.”
What are the most common ‘kind lies’ that are making our society dysfunctional?
@NoahRevoy We make our own organic sourdough in the bread machine everyday . It’s 5 min of work (sit and forget) and ingredients are about $1 let … let me know if you want recipe
You’re not wrong, by there’s interesting data that indicate the non-demons are winning the breeding battles (NOT necessarily winning the war). Only 31% of lefties become parents (…and only 22% of lefty men reproduce!). This is why 5GW and mass migration is so intense.

Ive noticed this bifurcation as well. There’s been plenty of discussion of the widening gap between rich and poor (ie dissapearance of middle class) but arguably the larger gap we’re witnessing is the character/well-raised gap. Families with bad manners are getting worse by the generation, and the high quality character circles are getting better. Wheat and tares. The best of the next generation will be far better than me and those of my generation, (and vice versa.)
The medieval European upper crust seemed to think the elite answer to this was high end private / semi-private tutoring. Everyone now has access to knowledge - based , high end private tutors with ai tools. If you pair that with a peer system of practical application life skills (think Boy Scouts -ish badge structure), the sky is the limit right now. I’m highly optimistic about the future of education for any family who wants to step outside of the box.
@NoahRevoy You’re a former pastor who sees the proverbial fire in a crowded theater. It’s your moral obligation to yell fire if you see one. Thanks for sharing
@NoahRevoy So many things in life have the ‘sludge mountain’ rule. Health ,finances, friendships, family strength etc. if you don’t inject energy into them them, they degenerate (ie freezing is not an option). Standing still on sludge mountain always takes you to the base.
Let’s just hope they don’t make their beef cartel official (the way the banking cartel did in 1913 to form the federal reserve ). Never would have guessed that demolition man movie was so good at predicting the future. The cartelization of restaurants ended up with every dining place being called Taco Bell.
There’s an incredibly useful life-rule that helps you predict someone’s future. Almost everyone knows it: ‘Look at the company a person keeps, and so goes the person.’
There’s another prediction rule that’s as (more?) powerful … but fewer people know about it. It’s also discussed in the Bible, and it’s not nearly as obvious. Can anyone name this ‘life-predictor’ before I tell you?
James 3 says this tiny thing sets the course of your life the way a rudder controls a ship. That means if your life sucks or is chaotic in any given area … you probably have to fix this tiny ‘thing.’
If an alien landed on earth, and you showed him the 100 ton rudder for the Titanic, and then showed him the 50,000 ton ship itself, he’d laugh in your face if you told him this rudder could control that behemoth.
We are like that alien... we don’t believe how important this thing is.
Ok …what is the ’tiny thing?’
(drumroll…)
The WORDS we use. (aka the ‘tongue’ in biblical nomenclature)
Yes, the words we hear repeatedly (and thus get in the habit of thiking with ourselves) control our destiny. They shape the WAY we think. They are software for how we filter what’s important in our lives.
There are numerous psychological studies that support this concept.
Where it gets REALLY interesting is when ‘loaded language’ gets dovetailed into this reality. Loaded language (ie language that is emotionally charged, and has different meanings depending on who’s using it) that is used repeatedly is arguably the most effective way to steer entire countries. The alien in us is tempted to laugh here, but laugh it this at your own peril.
Loaded language doesn’t precisely describe anything, but it does shape how we frame things, prioritize things, and how we assign moral weight to things.
Loaded language tells you who the heroes are, who the villains are, and who deserves outrage.
PSYOP practitioners in govts, media, PR firms etc don’t need to control what you think if they can influence the language you think with.
I have a chapter in my book about loaded language, and it will help you and your loved ones become more immune to the cheap vocab tricks. Link in bio:
I sometimes think about the pivotal moments in American history that acted as great social sorting mechanisms:
Whig or Tory?
Union or Confederacy?
Bad Bunny or Kid Rock?
My grandfather was US Army staff for the office of military govt at Nuremburg. He was support staff for the fragebogen handouts and de-nazification of Hitler youth. Wish he were alive today talk about the pros and and cons of their systematic methods from 80 years ago. Always seems to be a gap between what the boots on the ground say vs the books
Great question and answer here. Thank you for this. I've struggled with putting my finger on the Japan vs West distinction ... this absolutely nails it. The most salient example of this distinction (in practical application of the law) : you can go to jail in Japan for slander or defamation (even if the accusation is true)
