Actually I think we have confused dApps with normal apps. A dApp may not have an advantage in speed but it can handle the more essential data.
Or the IoT data, that are difficult to collect in the internet context.
Unpopular opinion: If you're presenting your application as a "dApp," you're already doomed to fail.
No one cares that you have a decentralized application. They only want to use what you're building if it is better than the centralized version of what they already have.
Bear markets are for builders. The calm, the quiet, the disillusionment... while the fickle and fair-weather peer around with nervous insecurity, the builders become the market's foundation, preparing the mortar and stone of tomorrow's towers. #bitcoin
Fun fact about the "cashless society" in China: the government is actively opposing it.
Translation: "Refusing to accept cash is illegal. Protect the legal tender status of the RMB"
It's good in that the primary pow secures the network and the coinage system help improve the fairness. The longer you hold many coins, the better chance you stand to mine a block. And the transaction amount encourages the miner to include more transactions in a block.
Layer 1 and layer 2 are developing at the same time. Maybe the most practical way is to combine both in the coming future.

It's quite debatable whether stable coins help building a strong ecosystem. Good questions follow such as: is Bitcoin really un-tethered?
what do you think?
Gemini dollars by themselves are boring. But having a strong ecosystem with multiple independent stable coins in different jurisdictions? That allows us to use them in contract based baskets or backing dynamic stable coins.
