Running helps create two skills that are increasingly rare:
1. When running by yourself, it helps create an ability to be alone inside of your head for a long time.
2. When running with others, you learn to fill time with conversation instead of defaulting to your phone.
If you are a T&F athlete and didn’t work out over the break
1. Don’t blame coach you got hurt
2. Don’t blame coach if you don’t perform
3. Coach has heard all the work and weather excuses, coach still doesn’t care
The cure for jealousy is gratitude. Instead of focusing on what others have and what you want you’ll find peace by being thankful for the gifts you’ve been given. This doesn’t mean you don’t strive for more. It just means you appreciate what you have in this moment.
This is likely one of the MOST underrated methods of recovery for athletes & coaches alike!

Underclassmen – Do yourself a favor, and ask to sit down (1 on 1), with the senior that you have the greatest respect for.
Ask them what their greatest regrets are over the past four years, ask them what they would do differently, ask what they’re most proud of, & TRULY LISTEN!
Today, decide to be that person who instills a positive belief in someone who needs to hear your encouraging words. Believe in others more than they believe in themselves. 😄
Players: If you think HS coaching & practices are hard & you can’t handle them, you sure won’t be able to tolerate playing in college! Many kids say they want to play in college, but few can adapt. Learn to embrace the hard parts now because college is a whole different level!
He’s done things the right way since his first steps on campus! Humble, results do the talking, coachable, team first attitude and pays attention to details on and off the course! 2016- top freshman, 2017- top sophomore, 2018- top of the state, 2019- TOP OF THE RECORD BOARD!
Amazing a what group can do over the course of 4 years! Congrats ladies (and coaches) on your string of success. A lot can be said about culture and expectation.
These 3 seniors helped change the entire direction of our program. Prior to them coming to DGS, we finished 21st and 20th at the state meet. The last 4 years, they have led us to 4th, 5th, 3rd, & 5th. Thanks Kennedy, Brenna, & Erin! #leaders
There is no place in our sport, or the world for that matter, for this type of behavior.
Saying something and getting the help you need is the first, and sometimes the hardest, step.
Take the time to watch, listen, and read.
This was a long time coming. For years, I felt broken and alone- I waited, yet no one reach out to help.
Now I am ok. But the system isn’t. And I can’t stay silent.
This was hard to share, so thanks @lindsaycrouse & @nytimes for all your support. ❤️

6th place. It hurts but this is life. Anyone or any team who is devastated by not qualifying should be grateful that they are in a position to expect to qualify every year. It is hard to qualify for State and should be. I couldn’t be prouder of a group than I am of these guys.
