@WVNursesAsso@wvnurses@WvACNMaffiliate@AngyMidwife@C130DNP@jodihayes1 Unfortunate attitude surrounding the profession…Nurses are by far the most trusted & ethical profession in annual Gallup survey (for > than 20 yrs) yet a total minimization (or even worse, degradation) of the role of nurses in healthcare leadership & policy. @djmasonrn
@WilliamKyleVass To strongly disagree with med cannabis being on the PDMP is not at all offensive & I understand the perspective but this sentiment is of a social dominance hierarchy that I’m shocked you don’t stand against. Hoping it’s displaced frustration and not truly how you think of RNs
@DirkDigg42069 @AmyMSummers@WilliamKyleVass@HeatherTully At least 15 (near 1/2 of states with medical cannabis programs) so not radical. Concerns: med interactions, anesthesia plan, R/O cause for new onset AMS or severe psych symptoms, consistent treatment with FDA approved cannabis meds (required in PDMP)

The real source of peace of mind is love and compassion; not the love we feel for those who are close and already affectionate towards us, but an unlimited sense of altruism, a love that can be extended to all beings, including your enemy, which only human beings are capable of.
@AmyMSummers Original premise in the 70s for the fed dictate of CON was to control healthcare costs. Not long after the Feds said never mind we were wrong & no longer required for federal match funds. So why do we still have when we know it failed at the purpose for which it was started?
This is absolutely a loss for readers….especially when the topic relates to why nurses and other HCWs are leaving (and thus why there are shortages of “beds”).
Just an observation. Hospitals are often happy to make doctors available for covid interviews (and they’re regularly great and insightful).
But it’s much harder to get permission to talk to nurses, techs and others, even when explicitly asking. Think that’s a loss for readers.

Our nurses leave us to travel, making more money elsewhere (and good for them).
Other nurses travel here to work because we are short staffed, making more money here as a traveler.
Make it make sense.
Symptoms are starting v early w Omicron (for a number of reasons I’ve discussed)
This means that there is a chance the virus isnt yet growing in the nose when you first test
Virus may start further down. Throat swab + nasal may improve chances a swab picks up virus.
Time for all leaders of healthcare systems to wake up and ask if they are properly protecting all of their workers against the airborne spread of SARS-CoV-2.

@AmyMSummers Interesting - a federal agency with an associated non-profit foundation. Had no idea. Looking at their 990s they had a banner fundraising year in FY2020 (>$269 million) which is more than 3x the prior year. I get interest in donating considering COVID but seems risky for COIs.
@AmyMSummers 7/27/21 - 6,391. This level of data transparency has only really been available since late summer/early fall 2020. Our peak staffed beds back then - 6886. God bless our healthcare frontlines.
Great to seeing WV hospitalized COVID cases are down compared to one month ago; but staffed hospital beds are down nearly as much as all-cause hospital admissions (227 vs 296). An unstaffed hospital bed = very expensive motel room. Hoping a fluke and not the new normal. #WVNurse
