This iconic newspaper image was taken here - 100yrds from Plymouth at War HQ in Oreston. However, the word on the street is - the pictured serviceman (returning POW) was colourised incorrectly. He was actually - Army. True dit. #VEDay75

#inertordnance for today is a US #WW2#37mm (37x222) M16 round for the Stuart Light Tank and M3 antitank gun, this vareint is a M55A1 practice round, empty HE body fitted with a dummy fuze. Both projectile and case are dated 1942.
Today's #inertordnance picture is a US #WW2#37mm M51B2 APCBC-T The projectile and brass case are both dated 1942, the paint and stencils are original. These were used in the Stuart Light Tank and M3 anti tank gun.

@Blitzwalker Hi Steve, that is a No 85 T&P Time and Percussion fuze, but not British, it was made by BSC Bethlehem Steel Company in the US, it's a scoville pattern as far as I know. Used on 18prs amongst others.

Today's #inertordnance picture is a #ww2 German 3.7cm APHE projectile with inert base fuze. The paint is original along with the FES stamp on the body to designate the use of a sintered iron driving band that replaced the use of copper as the war progressed.
