Nothing says Alaska like a summer tornado.

There was apparently a tornado in Alaska on July 4th, and it was fully condensed, too! That's incredibly, and I mean incredibly, rare. I honestly can't recall seeing a fully condensed tornado documented in Alaska before. This footage was captured near the Alpine Creek Lodge outside of Cantwell, Alaska.

Monday was a busy day in the North Rockies, as they received 11 inches of snow, just five days before the Fourth of July! This coincides with a heatwave bringing all-time record high temperatures in other parts of the country.

This a phenomenon known as groundwater upwelling or a hydrostatic pressure release. When the ground becomes oversaturated, the water table rises, and because sandy soil loses its ability to absorb more liquid, the excess water finds the path of least resistance to the top.

We need PRAYER warriors! 9 skiers missing in California avalanche.

15 skiers caught in an avalanche on Castle Peak in Tahoe area on Tuesday. 6 have been rescued “with varying injuries”

Sierras could see up to 8ft of snow over the next 48 hrs, with gusts of wind as strong as 55 mph.

Rescue teams battling HIGH avalanche danger and white-out conditions.

“Due to extreme weather conditions, it took several hours for rescue personnel to safely reach the skiers and transport them to safety… The search is ongoing, pending weather conditions.”
