Uganda's 2,417 medical interns have been deployed but plan not to report until the government clarifies their allowances.
But who cares, really? Whether they report or not. No one cares.

After all, Ugandans aren't falling sick. The beds are empty. The wards are quiet. Nobody needs an intern.

After all, every Ugandan can afford private healthcare. Nobody goes to government hospitals anyway. The poor don't exist.

After all, the interns aren't important. They only provide 70% of clinical services. Minor contribution. Barely noticeable.

After all, the doctors who completed internship will gladly stay behind and volunteer indefinitely. They have nowhere to go. No jobs await them. They might as well work for free forever. What's a year of volunteering? They've saved enough throughout the year. We've been paying them.

After all, the parents who sold land, borrowed money, and sacrificed everything for years of medical school fees were just wasting resources. Their children aren't pillars of anything.

After all, Uganda has too many doctors. We can afford to lose 2427 of them to strikes, emigration, and burnout simultaneously.

After all, patients can wait.
They always have.
Who needs a functioning public health system when you can just issue a press statement and prescribe national patience?

The Ministry of Health released the medical internship deployment list for 2,417 proffesionalas.
A hard reporting ultimatum.
Zero mention of facilitation.
They expect young doctors, nurses, pharmacists & dental surgeons to leave home, report to distant hospitals, in an alien world, work endless shifts, and somehow survive an entire critical year… unpaid.
This is not training.
This is modern-day slavery wrapped in a white coat.
Do not report until facilitation is guaranteed in writing.
