Just a reminder that you are being taken for a gullible fool if you believe a Tier 1 owned tournament that has Fiji playing all its games away and Japan its home game in Australia ever will have any risk of a Tier 1 side getting relegated from it.
One of the worst decisions of recent years was the cancellation of the Americas Rugby Championship.
This had a good mix of nations in the same timezone and was growing interesting stories and rivalries and had an obvious geographical identity unlike some other competitions in rugby. In longer term it could have maybe been built and expanded further and a platform to grow the sport in places like Paraguay, Colombia, & Mexico.
The worst thing though is there was no replacement. Now teams in the Americas only sparingly play each other (Brazil for instance has only met Uruguay once in the last 7 years despite being South American neighbours and Uruguay doesn't play Chile outside of RWC qualifiers every 4 years despite being such a close rival in terms of playing level). Rugby across the Americas now has less opportunity to gain valuable experience and development. Brazil who were the success story of the tournament and a nation it would be amazing to see take to rugby now barely plays and has gone backwards. Any building history to the event was just thrown away.
It is well known WR are planning to spend less on Tier 2 rugby in the current cycle. However this tournament was providing such value cancelling it entirely and then forgetting about it was just an awful decision by all involved. They could at least have downsized to a smaller format with a view to expanding again in better times. Instead Americas rugby is left with no continental competition of its own.
I will never forget his laugh and smirk as they dragged Jordan’s lifeless body across the turf. The laugh? From the trainer saying “if he can’t walk then drag him”. But in the SEC it just means more.
👏 Awesome feature on Jack Iscaro from WJLA! From Gonzaga HS star to Old Glory DC and the national stage, Jack’s work ethic and passion for growing rugby in the DMV shine through. Check out his journey and impact on and off the field.

Tough to see Coach Willard leave. He did a great job and I wish him the best! With that being said. I’m available and would love the challenge. Go Terps!!!
Battle of the Capitol 🏆
An epic two-game series! Old Glory Senior Academy claimed victory, showcasing grit, passion, and skill, while the Capital Selects pushed them to the limit in a memorable showdown.
Here’s to fierce rivalries and rugby unity!
Until the next showdown!
My take on a quite brilliant four months with Washington RFC.
It’s made me realise how much we take for granted in the UK.
And how much of a mess our game is in.
It’s a positive read, I promise, just not if you’re British.
