Spirit of famed thespian, bon vivant, hunter, lion tamer, fireman, and Hall of Fame pitcher who died in 1914.
(I am not Rube Waddell, as Rube Waddell is dead)
In a modern stadium located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Put that game at Qualcomm and things would have looked different.
Also, I will assume that this video was taken near the end of the game, as those are some long shadows for 1pm.
Two things to remember about @StephenASmith:
1.) What we see on camera and hear on the radio? It’s an act. It’s a character. He may feel these things to a point, but he dials it up to eleven for entertainment value.
2.) The character that is “Stephen A. Smith” is an idiot.
1.) Nobody, not even the historically incompetent Al Avila, could have foreseen Austin Meadows's mental health troubles.
2.) I'm not convinced Paredes turns into the player that he is if he stayed in Detroit. He certainly wouldn't have improved under Scott Coolbaugh's coaching.
@EffElon80 @Lions Context. Even the blowhard who first shared the image walked back his derogatory (and flat-out incorrect) statements. https://t.co/vaQAbJsnmz
It’s been a bit since I’ve chimed in about the goings on in the great game, and while I wish I had a good answer as to my absence, the embarrassing truth of the matter was that I forgot my password.
And the email tied to this profile.
Clearly this has been remedied, but… oops.
The faster pace of play is a nice thing to experience when watching on television, but it's hard to justify MLB ticket prices when games are barely two hours.
@ShitBsbPlyrsSay It’s bush.
We’re in spring training. You pull this against one of my guys in a game that doesn’t count and the next time we see you, maybe one of my pitchers sends a fastball at your eyes.
In the last 2 MLB seasons, Shohei Ohtani has produced more batting fWAR (8.8) than Mike Trout (8.2) and more pitching fWAR (8.6) than Gerrit Cole (8.5).
Trout ($426M) and Cole ($324M) have the richest contracts by a hitter and pitcher in MLB history
It is good to see that @StephenASMith has moved beyond his belief that Ohtani isn't marketable because he uses an interpreter.
I mean that. Sincerely. Ohtani is a force, and for as much as I abhor "sports talk," it is good to see them acknowledge that Shohei owns baseball.
BREAKING: Keith Olbermann has been banned from all 2023 Portland Pickles games for tweeting, “The @WBCBaseball is a meaningless exhibition series”.
The Portland Pickles will not and do not stand for terrible takes.
Shohei Ohtani is now the first player to win a #WorldBaseballClassic MVP, an MLB MVP, and an International (NPB) MVP.
Shohei Ohtani is an anime character made manifest. He's simply playing the game on a different plane of existence.
