Whether it is or isn’t a red to Balogun is now irrelevant. Government interference is a violation of FIFA Article 2 & 15, and the punishment is disqualification and suspension. #FIFAWorldCup
@THFC_Mastrigt_ Thinking players basically get to do whatever they feel like isn’t really realistic. Most likely an instruction, much like other passes or attempts. Tudor plays very direct and risk minimizing.
@thespursweb I guess it could be seen as soft by some. But I just feel like when you JUST go for the player and clearly start pulling him to not get into a 1 on 1 with the gk it should absolutely be a fk..
@kanefromthelane@M_s_2006_ But we have signed Souza so the talent is there, and we have Udogie, Spence (but would want to see him shifted now to RB), and are replacing Davies. This transfer actually makes a lot of sense. We can’t sign young players all the time, you need the experience. He has plenty.
@macleod_eoin@thfcxdaniel@thespursweb With that being said, I dislike (read hate) VAR and would be much happier with some incorrect calls if it meant football would stay more alive. It’s a sport for humans, not robots, so we should allow for mistakes.
@macleod_eoin@thfcxdaniel@thespursweb If the lines are to be trusted, which they have to be since we have nothing else to look at, it was a close call. A close call without automated offsides will take time, and since the decision changes the outcome radically – it makes sense to check it no matter the time it takes.
@simonyemane Agreed. I feel like our set pieces have gotten better, but at the cost of the rest of our attack. I feel like we only saved ourselves against Bodø thanks to individual skill from Kudus/Odobert who made it slightly more difficult for the denfence. But it was still really poor.
@thfcxdaniel@thespursweb That’s not really how it works, though. For a foul, sure. But being offside is being offside, even if that’s by 1 cm. So if they were to conclude that he’s offside, then the decision by the ref is clearly and obviously wrong.
