100+ people gathered in Mississauga to protest against indefinite security screenings. We are not demanding privileges; we were invited to Canada, yet we are left waiting indefinitely. Security screenings must have a reasonable timeframe.#IRCC#cdnpoli#cdnimm#CBCNews
@CitImmCanada@MarkHolthe Not to mention if IRCC put you into security screening for no reason, you may only get your visa approved hopefully 4 years later. Oops, that’ll be FIFA World Cup 2030.
Just like PR and work permit applicants. We turned down other offers but chose Canada. We have no idea how long the security screening will take, some of us even didn’t know there was a security screening. While we’ve invest time and $, it’s can’t be solved with a simple “leave”.
These university students in China are matched with summer research internships in Canada via a program supported by Canadian and Chinese governments. They've turned down other offers but Canadian security screening delays may upend their plan.

@01CuriousGeorge@VoicesFairCheck Let me teach you something you didn’t know , we are all invited by Canada. It’s written on every AOR letter sent from IRCC.
It’s a beautiful day today. We shall be enjoying our life and work if we know where our lives are going to. Instead, we are here, just for a tiny tiny chance that we can talk to an IRCC official come to attend the immigration counselling conference. Make a decision, make it now.
@VoicesFairCheck To IRCC, CBSA, and CSIS, we maybe just a number in the backlog system, being forgotten for months, years. But behind those numbers are real lives and families stuck in limbo, being anxious, depressed and feeling lost every day and night.
My visa expires on June 1st and I cannot apply a new one before my work permit renewal is approved which should be in about 5 months. I pray everyday for my parents for their safe and healthy. I cannot come to them and take care of them if anything happens (god forbid)

A young immigrant professional shares how endless security screening has trapped her in Canada for years, separating her from her aging grandmother and injured mother, destroying family plans, and leaving her future frozen in uncertainty. #IRCC#cdnpoli#cdnimm#CBCNews
While Canada is calling for international talent to create jobs for local, the prolonged security screening is making them to think about other options…
The speaker is sharing her story. Came to Canada with the Start-Up Visa program which was created to attract innovative entrepreneurs - people who invest their savings, create jobs, and contribute to the Canadian economy. But now endless waiting.

Attendees of the 21st Annual 2026 National Citizenship and Immigration Conference are arriving one after another — and they are seeing us.
Today, our voices will no longer remain invisible.

I’m tired of “there is nothing we can do.”
Of course there are lots of things IRCC can do. Sit down with your security partners and take a look at the delays can be the first step.
Unless you only choose the easiest way, look away from us and pretend everything is just fine.
The countdown is almost over.
Tomorrow, families affected by endless security screening will stand together and refuse to remain silent.
Stand with us!
We are real people.
Real families.
Real lives.
May 28. Toronto.

@VoicesFairCheck We are all kinds of community helpers.
We make contributions to this country.
We deserve the fairness.
We need a final decision to plan our future.
We need a timeline to have hope.
And we will not stop protesting until our voices are heard.
@VoicesFairCheck I have no idea when my final decision will come, but what I do know is the peace gathering is happening in 2 days! @CitImmCanada no more elephant in the room. Face the systemic delay and work out a solution.
2 days to go! We have received several emails from RCICs agreed to raise our matter to IRCC and CBSA during the conference. All we want is a fair,
transparent, and well-administered immigration system - one that serves applicants, practitioners, and the public interest equally.
The countdown is ON! Join us this Thursday, May 28, in Toronto. We are visualising real progress, but we can't stop now. Let’s amplify our voices to end these systemic delays. Together, we demand transparency, swift action, and true accountability! #IRCC#cdnpoli#cdnimm#CBCNews
@CitImmCanada Stop pretending that you cannot see us nor you cannot hear us. Tones of thousands applications have been under security screening for years and there is no timeline to look forward. Public safety should never be used as an excuse of administrative delays.
“No language is neutral”
Neither is indefinite delay
Silence from the system does not mean silence in our lives
Every year lost is time taken from real families
Stand with us on May 28 in Toronto

@VoicesFairCheck@lei45387984 It’s been almost 3 years since my AOR. I still remember when I first saw the Aurora, about 4 months later after my AOR, I thought I’m going to receive my FD anytime soon as that’s the average length it took for applications in the same pathway as mine…
@VoicesFairCheck@lei45387984 Sometimes I got the question like if you are p*ssed off about this immigration system, why wouldn’t you leave? The answer is simple. No system is perfect. And I still have believes in this system so that I believe I still can make a change. Make things to be fair to us too.
And every time you ask about it, the answer is always “Everything is fine, rest assured I’ll let you know as soon as possible.” I mean we can talk about the marriage if you have a second thought. And if it doesn’t work, it’s ok too. Just tell me so that I can move on…
This is like you proposed to someone and she/he said yes, then you quitted your job, packed up everything and moved to a new place to live with her/him. Then a year later, two years later, three years later…you still don’t know when you two will get married.
We came here with hope.
We helped build this country through work, service, and community.
Families deserve answers.
Endless waiting is not fairness.

My little girl has learnt a new song and I found it is so encouraging.
"With just one small voice
Singing out a song
With just one small voice
Singing sweet and strong
One by one they'll grow
And together sing along
And then soon all the world
Will be singing"
We have put down our roots here in Canada,
and we hope to build our future here.
Waiting should not be indefinite.
Families should not live in permanent uncertainty.
May 28 in Toronto, let our voices be heard.
