Thanks @Graham_Epstein for your tweets over the last 3.5 years. Hopefully we’ll be sharing some more published #wakame research from your #phd in the not too distant future! 🤞
Now the PhD is done I'm shaking off my @WakameWatch alias and going personal! ...... @WakameWatch will be passed back to @thembauk for future Wakame projects. I'm leaving the invasive kelp behind me for the time being. Watch this space.... 🚐🇪🇺🧳
Our new paper on the structure of SEAGRASS MEADOWS in SW England shows the value of volunteer divers for collecting fundamental ecol data at regional scales https://t.co/nAthns0IUV #citsci#marinebiology#scubadiving#zostera#biodiversity
Our new paper in @NatureClimate shows how extreme temps recorded during marine heatwaves dramatically impact ocean ecosystems and the goods/services they underpin. Big issue as marine heatwaves are getting more frequent and longer due to climate change https://t.co/RsWRMQNm4g
@AnaelleLemasson@DanSmale1@Pippa_J_Moore Will be going off the radar for a little bit.... 🚐🌍🇪🇺....hopefully be back in the world of marine science in a year or so!
Really enjoyed Graham Epstein's (aka @WakameWatch) thought-provoking pre-viva seminar on his PhD work on invasive seaweeds. G has been an utter pleasure to supervise over past 3.5 years (don't leave!!! 😪) and has conducted superb, relevant, important research. 👍
We are looking for an exceptional post-doc to work on a 3-year @NERCscience@NewtonFund project informing ecosystem based fisheries management of Chilean and Peruvian kelp forests. Lots of subtidal field work in Chile and Peru https://t.co/Fvo1wBNKKx Please RT
Great talk by @WakameWatch on the findings from his PhD! So interesting to see how an invasive species is affecting our own native kelps! (So many questions coming his way 😂) #PlyMSEF2019
Final draft of my PhD thesis ready for proof reading!!! 3.25 years, 50,000 words, 238 pages, 52 figures, 31 tables and 400 references – weighing in at 1.2kg, it’s going to make a great doorstop! #phdlife@thembauk@unisouthampton
Have you heard about our PhD Open Day, Friday 7th December? We have several funded projects coming up, find out more and register your interest here: https://t.co/opKAVTdPny #PhD#Student#Marinebiology
Our latest video is up on the blog! @pessa_3 from @uwanews talks to us about his paper which looks into how climate warming is affecting underwater forests. https://t.co/Emh5FUuYAR
New paper out today! Between-habitat variability in population dynamics of #marine#invasivespecies#Wakame highlights importance of marinas in invasion dynamics, and complexities involved in management design. With @DanSmale1@thembauk#OpenAccess GO TO: https://t.co/XksNSO69OO
My current focus is this very successful weed - Undaria pinnatifida (Wakame). Although usually subtidal, it’s also been found on intertidal shores. Got a bit of weeding in to try and reduce its impact and further spread (under permit).
Cool. Our recent paper on the impacts of ocean warming on kelp forest diversity made the front cover of Diversity and Distributions. KELP IS AT HAND https://t.co/oJVvgqeVhg
